1. Who is responsible
We are the controller of the personal data described here — meaning we decide why it is collected and what happens to it.

Write to that address or that mailbox with any question about your data. There is no separate data protection officer; it is one person, and that person reads it.
2. The short version
Two things leave your Mac: what is needed to check a licence, and a count of how many times a day you opened the wheel. That count carries no names — not of applications, not of files, not of you. We never learn which applications you have, which you switch to, or when.
You can see the same counts we do, at any time, in the app's Statistics tab. If a number is not shown to you there, it is not being sent.
3. What the app sends us
- A device fingerprint. A one-way SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware identifier combined with a fixed salt. We never receive the identifier itself and cannot reverse the hash back into it. It exists so a licence can be tied to a computer and so a trial cannot be restarted by reinstalling.
- The app version and macOS version. For support and compatibility.
- Your licence key, when you activate one.
- A device label — the hardware model, for example
Mac14,6, so you can tell your two computers apart in the app. This is the model, not the name you gave your Mac. - The number of dial positions you have filled. A single integer between 0 and 7, sent with each daily licence check. It tells us how large a wheel people actually use, and whether the free version's limit is set sensibly. It is not linked to which applications those positions hold.
- Daily usage counts. For each day: how many times the wheel appeared,
how many switches followed, and an estimate of the keystrokes those switches saved.
Three integers and a date. They are sent once a day, along with the licence check
that was happening anyway — never at the moment you use the wheel.
They exist because the licence data cannot tell somebody who uses the app from somebody who installed it and forgot. The same numbers are shown to you in the app's Statistics tab.
4. What the app never sends
- Which applications you have, or which ones you switch to
- The time of day you use the app — the counts are per day, never per moment
- Anything typed, any screen content, any file
- Your name, the name of your Mac, or your location
- Any analytics, crash telemetry or advertising identifier
5. What Paddle holds
Purchases are handled by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your email address, billing details and payment information under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address so we can send you your licence key and answer support requests. We never see your card details.
6. Who else touches it
These are every outside party that handles any of the data above, and what each one does. There are no others.
- Paddle (Ireland and UK) — merchant of record. Takes the payment and holds your billing details, as described in section 5.
- Supabase (EU region, Frankfurt) — the database and server functions that hold licence records and usage counts.
- Resend (United States) — sends you the email containing your licence key. It handles your email address and the message itself.
- Vercel (United States) — serves this website and keeps standard access logs.
We do not sell data, share it for advertising, or give it to anyone not on this list, unless the law requires it of us.
7. Leaving the EU
Everything to do with your licence stays in the European Union. Resend and Vercel are United States companies, so the email carrying your key and the ordinary logs of your visit to this site are processed there. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which both providers have in place.
8. How it is protected
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (TLS). Your licence key is never stored as you see it — the database holds only a SHA-256 digest, so even a full copy of it would not yield a working key. Access to the database and to the servers is limited to the one person named in section 1, protected by keys that are not shared and are rotated when there is reason to. No system is beyond reach, and we do not claim otherwise; if something is breached and it affects you, you will hear it from us.
9. How long it is kept
- Licence records are kept while the licence exists and for as long as tax law requires afterwards.
- Trial records are kept so a trial is not restarted by reinstalling.
- Daily usage counts are kept for 13 months and then deleted, so one year can be compared with the last and no longer.
- Website access logs are kept for as long as Vercel keeps them by default.
When a record is no longer needed for any of these reasons, it is deleted.
10. Why we are allowed to hold it
Performance of the contract you entered into when buying a licence (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in preventing one licence being used by unlimited people (Article 6(1)(f)).
11. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to podpora@maccontrolwheel.com. Deleting a licence record ends the licence, so we will confirm before doing it.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in the Czech Republic that is the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).
12. Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. The Paddle checkout, when it opens, sets what it needs to process a payment.
